Information About Celtic Knotwork:
The Celtic Trinity Knot, or Triquetra, is one probably the most well known knot. The term Triquetra comes from Latin, and it means “three-cornered” or triangular. There are many examples on Celtic trinity knot meaning. Early Christian understanding views the symbols as the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. A more pagan idea sees the trinity knot as the drawing of the three inherent feminine powers: Mother, Crone, and Maiden. One more idea can be more metaphysical where the three corners represent mind, body and spirit.
Celtic Knots With Four Corners: When you see a Celtic knot that has a primary motif of four it is commonly referred to as the “infinity knot.” Celtic knots that have a closed path, (no end or beginning), are said to be a symbol of eternity, or represent the infinite. Those with open paths are said to signify a journey. The journey could be physical, or spiritual. More of this information can be found on our other Celtic Jewelry pages.
